There are a lot of people that really need to come to an understanding of this quote. We often give over our happiness to an external source. It could be a job, and spouse or significant other. "If I only had _____________ I could be happy." We say. If only _____________ would do ___________." We also say.

We need to learn to take our own happiness out of the hands of others and rest it on our own shoulders. We have a better chance of actually achieving a life of happiness if we do that.

You see, when we place our happiness in another we are sure to be let down. We are sure to be emotional rollercoasters because our happiness is subject to change at any moment depending upon what another does or does do.

It is best to seek relationships not to make us happy, but instead to share in the happiness that we already have.
